Connie Kerrigan, Director of Outreach at Parkview Behavioral Health discusses signs and causes that might trigger thoughts of suicide. Suicide is on the rise in the U.S. In order to combat suicide, people need to be educated on identifying triggers and treatment for suicide.
Life circumstances can lead to thoughts and attempts at suicide. Some examples would be: divorce, loss of job, loss of loved one, financial stress, housing situations, physical pain and health problems, legal issues, and substance misuse. Open conversation with someone you feel may be suffering from depression or thoughts of suicide is the best way to deal with the situation and then getting adequate help.
