Maintenance Technician

Fort Wayne Housing Authority is seeking a dependable, skilled Maintenance Technician to help keep our properties safe, clean, and fully operational. Essential Duties & Responsibilities

• Inspect, troubleshoot, and repair various building systems and equipment
• Perform routine building and grounds inspections, including parking areas and sidewalks
• Complete general maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and minor repairs
• Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues
• Maintain grounds equipment and automotive/motorized tools
• Rotate every 7 weeks for after‑hours emergency calls
• Apply paint, varnish, lacquer, and other protective coatings as needed
• Perform manual labor tasks including lifting up to 50 lbs., digging, carrying, unloading, and installing materials
• Utilize hand and power tools safely and effectively
• Respond promptly to work orders and complete tasks in a timely manner
• Communicate clearly with team members, residents, and contractors
• Demonstrate strong problem‑solving skills and a positive, can‑do attitude

Work Environment

• Work is performed across company properties and may involve exposure to varying weather conditions
• May require interaction with contractors as well as direct communication with Residents

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in building maintenance, construction, or a related field
• Valid Indiana driver’s license and insurable under company policy
• Basic working knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems
• Ability to perform regular building upkeep tasks and general repairs
