A LifeWise teacher will combine in-depth Bible knowledge and outstanding teaching abilities to share the gospel with churched and unchurched public school students in a classroom setting. Our ideal candidate is an active church participant with excellent communication and interpersonal skills who is caring, perceptive and proficient in teaching children. Anywhere from 3 hours a week to 10+ hours a week and locations include Leo, Woodlan, New Haven, Heritage & Prince Chapman areas. Students are transported to a local church for classes. Qualifications and Experience
✦ A minimum of two years of classroom teaching experience (with students) in either a school or church setting
✦ A mature personal Christian faith in agreement with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
✦ Active participation in and commitment to a local church whose doctrine aligns with the LifeWise Academy Statement of Faith
Job Description
✦ Complete Initial and Ongoing Training
✧ Complete the LifeWise Teacher Certification Course prior to teaching
✧ Participate in the annual LifeWise Summit each year
✧ Attend at least one Teachers’ Lounge or one LifeWise Meet-Up per year
✧ Stay up to date on training and updates by regularly checking LifeWise email
✦ Teach LifeWise Classes
✧ Utilize the LifeWise curriculum to lesson plan and map out curriculum customization
✧ Implement the LifeWise curriculum in the classroom
✧ Invest in connecting with students through building relationships and praying for them
regularly
✧ Cultivate an organized, encouraging and engaging classroom environment through
various teaching strategies and discipline that is redemptive in nature
✧ Apply LifeWise policies, procedures and resources
✦ Maintain Records
✧ Take attendance in each class and provide attendance records to LifeWise program
director and/or school officials as needed
✧ Maintain accurate class rosters including health concerns, special needs of students and
photo permissions as noted on parent permission slips
✧ Prepare adequate information and materials for a substitute teacher as needed
✦ Maintain the Classroom
✧ Maintain a clean, attractive and well-ordered classroom
✧ Know procedures for dealing with emergency situations
✧ Purchase classroom supplies as needed using funds provided by program director
✦ Communicate
✧ Act as a LifeWise Academy ambassador within the community
✧ Attend annual school open house and other outreach events as available
✧ Maintain ongoing dialogue with school personnel to stay apprised of class schedule
changes and ensure student well-being
✧ Build relationships with volunteers and keep them apprised of schedule changes
✧ Submit regular updates, stories and photos to program director
✧ Promote and communicate LifeWise’s religious mission in all duties and interactions,
ensuring alignment with the organization’s core values and beliefs
