Melissa Montana talks with Scott Ralya, a Medical Foster Home Coordinator at the VA, about the importance of Medical Foster Homes. Medical Foster Homes (MFH) are private residences where caregivers provide continuous care and supervision to Veterans, assisted by relief caregivers. These caregivers help with daily activities like bathing and dressing, and are trained to deliver VA-approved care. MFH is a voluntary long-term care option, with some residents being Veterans.
The VA helps find high-quality, safe homes and encourages families to tour options before deciding. Veterans in MFHs receive Home-Based Primary Care (HBPC), which offers health care services at home for those with complex needs. A VA physician oversees the care team, tailoring services to each Veteran’s specific requirements. If you are interested in becoming a Medical Foster Home (MFH) caregiver? Check to see if you meet the criteria and contact Scott Ralya at (260) 426-5431 ex. 62959.
