Youth & Young Adult Pastor, Faith Baptist Church

Overview:

The Pastor of Youth & Young Adults will be responsible for the development and oversight of all Faith Baptist Church ministries to junior and senior high youth (grades 6-12), and post high school young adults (ages 18-30) with the goal of them becoming fully devoted followers of Jesus Christ who Gather…Grow…Go.

Primary Responsibilities

Youth Ministry (Grades 6-12):

Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life.
Possesses a minimum of a bachelor’s degree in a related field, preferred 2+ years experience in youth ministry, and basic administrative skills.
Possesses a personal spiritual life congruent with the biblical mandates for leaders (1 Timothy 3:1-7).
Capable of creating and executing a long term vision for Faith Baptist Church’s youth ministry, in conjunction with the Church’s overall ministry vision.
Gifted and called to youth ministry and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
Recruit, train and shepherd volunteer staff with diverse gifts and personalities.
An engaging teacher, biblically based, who is in agreement with Faith Baptist Church’s statement of faith.
Support Faith Baptist Church parents in effectively fulfilling their Christian parenting roles, in concert with other pastoral staff.
A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, possessing relational skills with students, parents, staff, and congregation (able to speak to both groups and in one on one settings).
Must be able to occasionally lift heavy items and participate in activities that require a certain level of physical fitness.

College/Young Adult Ministry (Ages 18-30):

Exhibits a personal and growing relationship with God, a teachable spirit, and a healthy family life.
Preferred 2+ years experience in ministry to young adults.
Capable of creating and executing a long term vision for Faith Baptist Church’s young adult ministry, in conjunction with the Church’s overall ministry vision.
Gifted and called to young adult ministry and has a passion for evangelism and outreach, both personally and at the ministry level.
Must have a strong understanding of and ability to use social media.
An engaging teacher, biblically based, who is in agreement with Faith Baptist Church’s statement of faith.
Provide counseling and spiritual direction to youth and young adults on an individual basis.
A self-motivated leader, capable of casting and imparting vision for ministry, that will bridge young adults into adult ministries and the overall life of the church

Expectations:

Lead Faith Baptist youth and young adult  ministry to develop maturing followers of Christ
Be mentored by the Lead Pastor, remaining accountable and responsive to his oversight of the youth and young adult ministry.
Attend and participate in worship services and staff meetings on a weekly basis.
Preach to congregation, as needed.
Work with the Greater Fort Wayne Campus Ministry, specifically Purdue-Fort Wayne and Indiana Tech.
Must be able to pass background checks.
Participate in job performance reviews.
Present a yearly youth budget proposal.
Stay current with youth ministry practices
Maintain contact with students and parents, keeping them informed of ongoing activities.  Keep parents updated on ministry strategies and plans in a way that encourages partnership and involvement.
Other duties as requested.
