Well established Fort Wayne commercial construction company is looking for a Safety Director.  Candidate will be detail-oriented, self-motivated and will thrive in a fast-paced environment.  Initiative and responsibility are key to this position.

Job Summary:

Safety Director is responsible for company safety at all levels while complying with all applicable local, regional and OSHA regulations.  You will lead continuous improvement initiatives to reduce conditional and ergonomic risk in our processes to ensure a safe and healthful working environment for all employees.

Key Responsibilities/Duties:

      Refinement and continuous maintenance of all Safety Programs & Hazard Communications Programs
      Toolbox Talk Management
      Job specific written safety plans
      Safety and Injury Claims Management
      Interim Life Safety Program and Job Specific Plans/Follow-up
      Infectious Control Program and Job Specific Plans/Follow-up
      Safety Equipment/PPE Management – Define and implement company standard as well as proper training, record keeping and purchasing
      Equipment Compliance/Inspections and record keeping
      Jobsite Posting Compliance (posters, signs, Safety programs, Hazcom, etc.)
      Subcontractor/Vendor Safety compliance
      Documented Job Inspections and Reporting with follow-up and close-out
      Accident/Injury Reporting, Investigation and overall Management
      Safety Training for Employees to maintain required individual safety certifications (including but not limited to 10 and 30-hour OSHA; CPR; First Aid; Equipment use; etc.)
      Develop an overall positive attitude and commitment to Safety by all
      Define and assist in implementation of Safety Incentive programs
      Support Field Staff and Project Management staff as needed

 

Additional Functions:

      Jobsite Set-up support
      Site Logistic support
      Jobsite signage support (company sign visible on every job)
      Jobsite organization/clean-up support
      Subcontractor/Vendor noncompliance support
      Networking with industry contacts
      Assist in lead generations/Lead prospecting/Presentations/Sale

 

Working Conditions:

      Extensive travel by vehicle
      Significant work at construction job sites in all weather conditions
      Must be able to perform activities requiring use of arms and legs, including climbing ladders/scaffolding, lifting & handling materials, walking & balancing, stooping.
      Must be able to speak and hear detailed information through oral communication.
      Must be able to see clearly and recognize small details.

 

Requirements:

      Construction experience mandatory
      OSHA training preferred
