Chief Finanacial Officer

Lutheran Social Services of Indiana (LSSI) seeks a strategic Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to be a key member of the senior management team that will partner to innovate new business lines, diversify funding, develop strategic outcomes and expand fee-for-service programs.   The CFO will demonstrate a drive for working in an innovative and entrepreneurial nonprofit setting helping families move toward economic and family stability.

The CFO will define the processes and implement the infrastructure and systems needed to support continuous growth.  She or he will continue to build and manage effective and streamlined administrative and financial systems, including financial, accounting, legal, information technology (IT), human resources (HR), and physical infrastructure.

The CFO is responsible for aligning financial reserves with the mission and vision of the organization and for identifying concrete ways to engage in increasing financial reserves and cost-savings, such that LSSI continues stability, and as a sustainable organization with longevity.

The potential candidate must be proficient in navigating between the day to day details of the organization’s systems and the higher level strategic analysis and long range planning.

Education and Experience:

Must possess a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Business Management related field required. (MBA preferred)
Minimum of 5 years demonstrated experience within accounting/finance.
Minimum of 5 years senior financial leadership experience.
Excellent written and verbal communication.
Experience creating and driving the analytic framework for planning and managing organizational change in a highly entrepreneurial organization.
Excellent people skills, with experience collaborating in a multidisciplinary and dynamic team.
Flexible self-starter; able to multitask while being highly detail-oriented.
Experience at integrating/developing IT/Systems to improve organizational productivity and accuracy in a fast-moving environment
Experience at working with external auditors, compliance and regulatory oversight
Commitment to results; “can-do" mindset; outstanding problem-solving ability
Experienced and effective at change leadership and change management
Strong motivational and staff leadership abilities
Excellent analytical, communication and presentation skills
Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, personal sense of accountability, and commitment to LSSI’s mission
Knowledge of Office Suite and Excel and familiarity with software like ADP Workforce Now, Blackbaud (Raiser’s Edge & Financial Edge), Power Plan, and QuickBooks
