Vaccines protect against several serious and potentially life threatening diseases. Susie Cisney, Director of Clinical Services at Allen County Department of Health, discusses why it is crucial for parents to maintain accurate records of their children's vaccines and to stay up to date on getting proper vaccines at the appropriate time.

Vaccines are important because they protect children from communicable diseases and the spreading of these diseases. Vaccines can prevent such diseases as chicken pox, measles, influenza, and whopping cough, in addition to other diseases. Most day cares and schools require up to date immunizations in order to enroll.

Vaccines can be administered at doctor offices, health clinics, and the Health Department. For more information please visit: or
