Stefani Davis - Breast Cancer Awareness Month
Stefani Davis, Nurse Practitioner at Parkview Cancer Institute, informs listeners on the importance of being pro-active in taking care of one's body to minimize the chances of getting breast cancer. Early detection is key. Stefani encourages women to get annual mammograms, especially if breast cancer runs in the family. In addition, monthly self exams are essential. It is important to know your body and to be aware of your normal breast tissue so if something appears different you can contact your doctor immediately. A healthy lifestyle that includes eating a high fiber diet and foods in moderation, coupled with daily areobic exercise of 30 minutes, not smoking, and getting adequate sleep are beneficial in warding off breast cancer.
