Rick Scott- Red Nose Day
Thursday, May 25 is Red Nose Day. Red Nose Day is a national awareness and fundraising day to help kids in need locally and around the world. Rick Scott, V.P of Philanthropy at Comic Relief, discusses the history of Red Nose Day and the importance of this outreach. Red Nose Institution began in the United Kingdom 30 years ago and came to the United States 3 years ago. The mission of Red Nose is "To come together to end child poverty one nose at a time." Monies raised support children in need through programs that ensure they are safe, healthy, and educated.
NBC will be hosting a 3 - hour Red Nose Celebration show beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 25. The show includes an hour of "Celebrity Ninja Warrior for Red Nose Day", followed by an episode of "Running Wild With Bear Grylls", featuring Julia Roberts. The last hour will be the 'Red Nose Special" hosted by Chris Hardwick.
Red noses can be purchased at area Walgreens stores for $1.50. All proceeds benefit Red Nose Institution with some monies allocated to Ft. Wayne's Covenant House.
