Mark Deister - Heart Ball Survivor

Local business owner and stroke survivor,  Mark Deister, shares his story of his recent stroke and the importance of recognizing stroke symptoms. Mark woke up in late November 2016 and was preparing to eat breakfast when he felt a wave of dizziness that lasted 15 minutes. He opted not to eat and went back to bed, sleeping for a few hours. He woke up and continued with his day. However, in the evening, he got violently dizzy and went straight to the hospital. After several hours, it was determined that Mark had suffered a stroke in the back of his head, which impacts balance. 

Mark has fully recovered and will be the key note speaker at the American Heart Association, Heart Ball to be held Saturday, May 20 at the Memorial Coliseum. The Kentucky - Derby themed Ball begins at 6 p.m and will include a a Cocktail Reception, Silent Auction, Dinner, and Live Auction.
