Kim Plattner - Safe Families
Melissa Montana talks with Kim Plattner today, Executive Director of Safe Families. Kim tells us that safe families is all about a safe place for kids, following the Biblical practice of hospitality, purposefully helping families to be reunited. Safe families is preventative, taking in kids whose families are struggling or going through a difficult time such as mental health, incarceration, or crisis. In those times when they don't have family or friends to trust to fall back on, the kids of these families are at risk for abuse or neglect. Safe Families as the church recruits host families through local churches, trains and screens them, and brings those kids in temporarily and family coaches come along side those parents and help them through that time with support, mentorship and guidance to stabilize those families.
