Huntington Fire Department partners with American Red Cross to give out free smoke alarms
This is a great opportunity to enhance the safety of homes for our Huntington, IN families!
HUNTINGTON, Ind. (WPTA 21) -
Huntington residents can protect their residences better thanks to a partnership between the Huntington Fire Department and the American Red Cross of Northeast Indiana.
The City of Huntington announced the partnership Monday, saying last week's fire in downtown Huntington showed the importance of having properly functioning smoke detectors in every business and residence. Beginning Monday, March 20, volunteers from the Red Cross and Parkview will begin canvassing Huntington neighborhoods, going door to door talking to residents about smoke detectors.
If a home does not have or needs more smoke detectors, Huntington firefighters will install them. Department personnel will also remove outdated smoke detectors as a service to residents.
