Hundreds of bicyclist are killed each year or seriously injured due to accidents where the bicyclist are not wearing helmets. Attorney at Law, Howard Spiva founded a charitable organization, "Heads in Helmets" after seeing many of his clients injured or killed because they were not wearing helmets. Only 22 states have a statewide law requiring helmets to be worn by minors. Indiana is one of these states.

Heads in Helmets is a charity giving away free helmets to kids and their families across the United States. The main goal of Heads in Helmets is for kids to kow that helmets are cool and to promote bike safety. Founded in 1999 by Howard, the charity gives away thousands of helmets each year.
