Food Deserts in Allen County

St. Joe Community Health Foundation and Purdue-Fort Wayne say there are 37 different areas in Allen County that are considered "food deserts," where people don't have close access to a grocery store and fresh produce.  Over one out of three households in the county can't afford their basic costs of food, housing and health care, and end up doing their shopping at places like convenience stores where there's no fresh produce and prices can often be higher.  Community Harvest Food Bank sends their Farm Wagon to neighborhoods like this to help out as best they can.
