Join STAR 88.3 and Georgetown Curves for the second annual “Diva Dash,” an all-women’s 5K race on Saturday June 16. The morning run will wind its way through Georgetown Square, Lake Forest and Lake Forest Extended. Proceeds from the timed run/walk will benefit the National Osteoporosis Foundation (NOF), the leading consumer and community-focused organization dedicated to the prevention of osteoporosis and broken bones.
The race, which is organized by staff and volunteers from Georgetown Curves, is open to women – and girls – of all ages who want to let out their inner Diva, run for a good cause or get some exercise. Winners in various age groups will be honored as only Divas should – with tiaras and boas. Bone density tests and blood pressure readings will be available during the Diva Dash to runners and spectators alike. The 2011 Diva Dash drew about 300 women and raised more than $4,600 for the NOF for Fort Wayne’s first all-women’s road race since Run Jane Run.
This will also be the second year the Diva Dash will partner with NOF. Throughout the country, nearly one in two women 50 and older will sustain a broken bone as a result of osteoporosis. The disease, which causes an estimated two million bone fractures annually, has no symptoms but can change lives in an instant.
Registration is $15 for runners who register before April 30, $20 for runners who register before May 31 and $25 leading up to race day. All runners will receive a complementary, one-day pass to Georgetown Curves, and all runners who register before June 1 will receive a Race-Day T-shirt. All mail-in registrations must be sent to Georgetown Curves C/O Sharon Christian 6714 East State Blvd. Fort Wayne, IN 46815 and postmarked by June 5. Click here to register online. Registration forms are also available at Georgetown Curves and Three Rivers Running Company, or you can register the day of the race.
Race day registration and packet pick-up will take place on June 16, 2012 from 6:15 am to 7:15 am at Georgetown Curves.
